Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Tuesday at 10:39AM

Orient Green Power Company(up 4.78%), Indowind Energy(up 4.76%), Energy Development Company(up 4.71%), Tata Power Company(up 4.32%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 3.73%), Hitachi Energy India(up 3.59%), Adani Power(up 2.83%), SJVN(up 2.68%), Alstom T&D India(up 2.59%) and PTC India(up 2.38%) were among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures(down 1.57%), NLC India(down 1.56%), Karma Energy(down 1.02%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 0.80%), K.P.I. Global Infrastructure(down 0.32%), Voltamp Transformers(down 0.21%) and KEC International(down 0.14%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 36.25 points down at 15826.9, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 81.01 points at 52761.74 at around 10:39AM.

Tata Consultancy(up 2.47%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.95%), NTPC(up 1.88%), Infosys(up 1.67%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 1.23%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.2%), HCL Technologies(up 1.1%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 1.02%), Cipla(up 0.98%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.97%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 3.85%), Hindalco Industries(down 3.61%), Tata Steel(down 3.51%), JSW Steel(down 2.4%), Maruti Suzuki(down 2.35%), Asian Paints(down 1.89%), HDFC Bank(down 1.8%), Axis Bank(down 1.66%), UPL Ltd(down 1.59%) and Hindustan Unilever(down 1.49%) were trading in the red.
