
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Monday.
Shares of Balkrishna Industries(up 3.28 per cent), TIINDIA(up 1.31 per cent) and MRF(up 0.37 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki(down 6.6 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 6.33 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 5.7 per cent), Tata Motors(down 5.57 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp(down 4.87 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 4.21 per cent down at 9480.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 382.2 points at 15863.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 1491.06 points at 52842.75.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, ONGC, YES Bank, Bank of Baroda and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of ONGC, Future Enterprises (DVR), Excel Ind, Hindalco and SEL Manufact hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while JK Cement, Nelcast, IndiaMART, Indigo Paints Ltd. and Spicejet hit their fresh 52-week lows.
