Share market update: Most active stocks on D-Street today in terms of volume

NEW DELHI: Vodafone Idea(number of shares traded: 11.94 crore), GTL Infra(number of shares traded: 7.49 crore), YES Bank(number of shares traded: 3.26 crore), SAIL(number of shares traded: 2.89 crore), Coal India Ltd(number of shares traded: 2.62 crore), Suzlon Energy(number of shares traded: 2.57 crore), HDFC Life(number of shares traded: 2.40 crore), NALCO(number of shares traded: 2.18 crore), PNB(number of shares traded: 2.08 crore) and JP Power(number of shares traded: 2.05 crore) were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange at 10:39AM in Wednesday's session.

The NSE Nifty index was trading 227.5 points down at 16566.4, while BSE Sensex was down 919.43 points at 55327.85 at the time of writing this report.

In the Nifty index, Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 6.55 per cent), Coal India Ltd.(up 5.90 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 5.67 per cent), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 3.49 per cent) and JSW Steel Ltd.(up 2.93 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 4.09 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 3.87 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 3.84 per cent), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 3.71 per cent) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 3.60 per cent) were among the top losers in the index.
