The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) notified several new appointments in various departments along with redesignations of certain positions in the Department of Economic Affairs

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday notified several new appointments on account of retirement of several bureaucrats in various government departments. It also notified the redesignation of certain positions in the Department of Economic Affairs.
Following the retirement of Manoj Kumar Parida (IAS:1986:UT) the additional charge of the post of Chairperson, National Authority Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC), Cabinet Secretariat, has now been assigned to Alkesh Kumar Sharma (IAS:1990:KL), Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat.
Similarly, following the retirement of Ajay Prakash Sawhney (IAS:1984:AP) the additional charge of the post of Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has now been assigned to K Rajaraman (IAS:1989:TN), Secretary, Department of Telecommunications.
New appointment in Department of Legal Affairs
The additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs (DoLA) is now assigned to Barun Mitra (IAS:1987:MN), Secretary, Department of Justice. The post of Secretary, DoLA had been vacant since Anoop Kumar Mendiratta demitted office on his appointment as Judge in the Delhi High Court.
Redesignations In Department of Economic Affairs
The post of Deputy Secretary, presently held by Prasanna V. Salian (IES:2008) has been re-designated as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs as a measure personal to him for a period up to 30.04.2024 i.e. total tenure of five years under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Likewise, the post of Deputy Secretary, presently held by Aman Garg (IRS C&CE:2008) has been re-designated as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs as a measure personal to him for a period up to 30.08.2026 i.e. total tenure of five years under the Central Staffing Scheme.
The post of Deputy Secretary, presently held by Hanumaiah Korukonda (ICAS:2008) has also been re-designated as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs as a measure personal to him with effect from the date of taking over charge of the re-designated post and for a period up to 18.11.2024 i.e. total tenure of five years under the Central Staffing Scheme.
