Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Monday at 10:45AM

K.P.I. Global Infrastructure(up 3.98%), Hitachi Energy India(up 3.69%), Indo Tech Transformers(up 2.91%), Jyoti Structures(up 2.72%), DPSC(up 2.55%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 2.16%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 2.01%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.93%), SJVN(up 1.24%) and NLC India(up 0.83%) were among the top gainers.

Indowind Energy(down 4.95%), Karma Energy(down 4.88%), Orient Green Power Company(down 4.78%), Energy Development Company(down 4.18%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 1.76%), Suzlon Energy(down 1.67%), CESC(down 1.54%), RTNPOWER(down 0.97%), ADANIGREEN(down 0.80%) and KEC International(down 0.74%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 119.25 points down at 16539.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 443.62 points at 55414.9 at around 10:45AM.

Tata Steel(up 4.01%), Hindalco Industries(up 3.16%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 2.66%), Coal India(up 2.08%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.98%), JSW Steel(up 1.86%), Tech Mahindra(up 0.93%), NTPC(up 0.69%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.32%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.31%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 2.83%), Axis Bank(down 2.46%), Eicher Motors(down 2.39%), HDFC Bank(down 2.27%), SBI Life(down 2.13%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.95%), Hindustan Unilever(down 1.83%), IndusInd Bank(down 1.82%), Britannia Industries(down 1.63%) and Asian Paints(down 1.62%) were trading in the red.
