UP Assembly Elections Updates: UP is voting in seven rounds. Results will be declared on March 10.

The Phase 5 of Uttar Pradesh assembly election, in which voting was held in 61 constituencies including Ayodhya today, recorded 21 per cent average turnout till 11 am, as per the revised figure.

This phase is crucial for the BJP as the party and its allies won 50 of the 61 seats here in the 2017 elections. A resurgent Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav is the BJP's biggest challenger here.

The districts going to the polls today include Sultanpur, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Barabaki, Bahraich, Shravasti and Gonda.

Twenty-one percent of the eligible voters have exercised their right till 11 AM. Amethi and Raebareli, once considered the Congress bastions, and Ayodhya, the epicentre of the Ram temple movement, are among the assembly seats where polling is taking place in this phase.

UP Polls: Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is contesting from Sirathu

As many as 692 candidates are in the fray for the fifth phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is contesting from Sirathu in Kaushambi district. He is pitted against Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) candidate Pallavi Patel.

The voting started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. Around 2.24 crore people are eligible to vote in this phase.
