A detailed investigation is being conducted on the Mumbai power outage today, said a statement by Mr. Sanjay Banga, President (T&D), Tata Power.
"Today morning at around 9:50 hrs, we felt grid disturbance in our Tata Power system. Our initial investigation is that this disturbance in our grid was because of the tripping of MSETCL lines," the statement read.
According to the statement, a reduction in power demand was observed in the city today, where total demand in Mumbai came down from 2000 MW to around 1200 MW which might have caused the disturbances in the system.
"We are coordinating with all agencies, including SLDC, to find out the exact reason and see how we can avoid such incidents in the future," the statement said.
