The power ministry has recommended names of ten former bureaucrats including ex-power secretary Sanjeev Sahai, ex-renewable secretary Anand Kumar and ex- telecom secretary Anshu Prakash for the position of chairman of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), source said.
The position will fall vacant in June this year after the incumbent P K Pujari.
The list also includes names of recently retired secretaries including ex-oil secretary Tarun Kapoor, ex-tourism secretary Yogendra Tripathi and former environment secretary R P Gupta, they said.
Names of former chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority PS Mhaske, ex-ports secretary Sanjeev Ranjaan and former chairman of National Authority for Chemical Weapons Manoj Kumar Parida have also been recommended for the position.
Pujari, former power secretary, was appointed to head CERC in February 2018 for three years. His appointment was later modified for a term of five years w.e.f. the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until he attains the age of 65 years.
