Synopsis

In addition to national holidays, state governments decide bank holidays; there are a few state-specific holidays when banks are closed other than the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. Here is a list of bank holidays in March 2022.

Holi, one of India's largest festivals, falls on March 18 in 2022 and banks across the country, with some exceptions, will be closed. Banks will also be closed across many states on March 1, 2022 on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

Other than national holidays, bank holidays are also determined by state governments; there are a few state-specific holidays when banks are closed. Banks also remain shut on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

Here is a list of bank holidays in March 2022:
March 1 (Tuesday): Mahashivratri; Banks closed in Gujarat.
March 3 (Thursday): Losar; Banks closed in Sikkim.
March 4: (Friday): Chapchar Kut; Banks closed in Mizoram.
March 17: Thursday: (Holika Dahan); Banks closed in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
March 18: (Friday): Holi/Holi 2nd Day; Banks closed in Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Tripura.
March 19: (Saturday): Holi/Yaosang; Banks closed Orissa, Manipur and Bihar.
March 22: (Tuesday): Bihar Divas; Banks closed in Bihar.
Banks will be closed on second and fourth weekends.

  • Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act
  • Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday
  • Banks’ Closing of Account
