In response to tensions between Ukraine and Russia, the Moscow Stock Exchange suspended trading on Thursday.

Moscow Exchange issued a statement on its website saying: "Moscow Exchange has suspended trading on all of its markets until further notice."

As a result of Defender of the Fatherland Day 2022, there was no trading in stocks on Wednesday.

In a release, the exchange said: "On February 23 and 8 March 2022, all securities not traded on those days will have their standard indicators - closing price, admitted quote, and market price - calculated and disclosed in accordance with current methodologies."

A host of countries imposed sanctions against Russian banks, its debt markets, and wealthy Russian individuals, contributing to a recent sharp decline in Russian stocks.
