Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 3.68 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(up 2.82 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 2.21 per cent), Cadila Healthcare(up 1.9 per cent) and Biocon(up 1.81 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Divis Laboratories(down 0.46 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.6 per cent at 13031.9 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 38.55 points at 17130.75, while the BSE Sensex was up 119.35 points at 57420.03.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Adani Power, YES Bank and Dhani Ibull Ventures were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Ganges Securities, Univastu India, Penta Gold, Bombay Metrics Supply Chain Ltd. and SEL Manufact hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vivo Collaboration Solutions Ltd., Richa Info Systems Ltd., Dev Information Tech, Euro India Fresh and Fino Payments Bank Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
