UP Assembly Election 2022 News LIVE Updates: Muslims will not vote for SP, says Mayawati
59 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh are voting in the fourth phase. Two state ministers - Brajesh Pathak and Ashutosh Tandon - former joint director of Enforcement Directorate, Rajeshwar Singh, and Unnao rape victim's mother Asha Singh are in the fray in this phase.
The seats going to polls today are spread across the districts of Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Banda, and Fatehpur.
Among the top contenders in the fourth phase of the state Assembly elections is Law Minister and BJP leader Brajesh Pathak from the Lucknow Cantonment seat. He is pitted against Samajwadi Party candidate and two-time Corporator Surendra Singh Gandhi. Pathak was elected to the state Assembly from the Lucknow Central seat in the 2017 polls.
Another minister in the Yogi Adityanath Cabinet-- Urban Development Minister Ashutosh Tandon is seeking re-election from the Lucknow East seat. He is contesting against Samajwadi Party's national spokesperson Anurag Bhadauria.
Another keenly watched seat in this phase is the Sarojini Nagar seat in Lucknow where the BJP has pitted former joint director of Enforcement Directorate Rajeshwar Singh against SP candidate Abhishek Mishra, who is a former IIM professor and a close aide of the former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The relevance of Congress will be tested in its bastion Rae Bareli as party MLA Aditi Singh joined the BJP before the polls. Aditi Singh is facing Congress candidate Manish Chauhan and Samajwadi Party's R P Yadav. Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi represents Rae Bareli in the Lok Sabha.

How these 59 seats fared in 2017
Of the 59 seats, the BJP had won 51 in the 2017 Assembly elections, four had gone to the Samajwadi Party and three to the Bahujan Samaj Party. The BJP's ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) had bagged one seat.

Key Contest: Lakhimpur
Lakhimpur Kheri was in the national limelight after eight people, including four farmers, were killed after being mowed down by a vehicle during last year. BJP leader and Union Minister of State Ajay Kumar Mishra's son Ashish Mishra is accused in the case. Here, BJP MLA Yogesh Verma faces SP’s Utkarsh Verma Madhur, who was the winner in 2012.

In Lucknow Central. the main fight is between BJP’s Rajnish Kr Gupta and SP’s Ravidas Mehrotra - who won in 2012 and lost in 2017 by around 5,000. Sadaf Jafar of the Congress is also in the fray
Key Contest: Lucknow Cantonment
Lucknow Cantonment is another BJP stronghold. State Law minister Brajesh Pathak here takes on SP’s Surendra Singh Gandhi ‘Raju Gandhi, who is a two-time corporator and BSP’s Anil Pandey.
Key Contest: Lucknow East
Lucknow is traditionally a BJP seat. This time, state minister Ashutosh Tandon ‘Gopal Ji’,son of former MP Lalji Tandon faces a tough fight from SP’s Anurag Singh Bhadouriya. Congress' Manoj Tiwari is also in the fray.
