NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Bandhan Bank(up 2.55 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 2.41 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 1.24 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(up 0.99 per cent) and Federal Bank(up 0.85 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, ICICI Bank(down 0.89 per cent), HDFC Bank(down 0.65 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 0.25 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.05 per cent up at 37392.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 28.95 points at 17063.25, while the BSE Sensex stood down 68.62 points at 57232.06.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Adani Power, Suzlon Energy and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ganges Securities, Orient Bell, SIL Investments, Genesys Intnl and Bombay Metrics Supply Chain Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Dhani Ibull Ventures, Madhav Copper, Sadbhav Infra, Vivo Collaboration Solutions Ltd. and Crown Lifters hit their fresh 52-week lows.
