The vehicle had 15 people in it. At least 14 people, including four women and a five-year-old girl, were killed and one injured after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Sukhidhang Reetha Sahib in Uttarakhand’s Champawat district in the early hours of Tuesday, said the police.
The accident occurred around 3 am when the victims were returning from Panchmukhi Dharamshala in Tanakpur to Danda Kaknai after attending a wedding, said Kumaon director general of police Nilesh Anand Bharne. The vehicle had 15 people in it, added the police.
According to a statement issued by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), rescue teams rushed to the spot soon after getting information about the accident, which took place between Budham and Kaknayi.
