Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon received the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award 2022 in the Best Actor and Best Actress category on Sunday.

Singh and Sanon bagged the awards for their performances in movies '83' and 'Mimi', respectively.

Humbled by the honour, the 'Simmba' star said he was elated to receive this award and dedicated it to the cast and crew of '83'.

In a one-minute-35-second-long video, the 36-year-old thanked the jury and his audience for their love.

"I have always tried to challenge myself with new roles, and push boundaries and transform myself into diverse characters to entertain my beloved audience. I am filled with gratitude," he said.

Singh also said playing the role of the legendary cricketer Kapil Dev on screen was an incredible journey and an enriching process.

Singh played the lead role in the sports drama film directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Khan, Deepika Padukone, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, Reliance Entertainment, and 83 Film Ltd. The movie is based on Team India's 1983 World Cup victory led by Dev. The film's story and dialogues were co-written by Khan, along with Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, Vasan Bala, and Sumit Arora.

On the other hand, Sanon shared the award announcement on Instagram and used just one word to describe her emotions - 'Gratitude'.

The 'Raabta' star's sister Nupur Sanon said she was proud of her elder sibling and her phenomenal performance in 'Mimi'.

Digitally released last year on July 26, Sanon played the lead role in the comedy-drama 'Mimi' - Hindi remake of Samroudhhi Porey's National award-winning, 2011 Marathi film, 'Mala Aai Vhhaychy!'. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film also featured Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Pahwa, Sai Tamhankar, and Supriya Pathak.

It is based on a quirky tale of a feisty girl, who becomes a surrogate mom to make money.

The star-studded night was held at Taj Lands End in Mumbai. The awards night honoured many other talented artists for their outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.

Several stars including Asha Parekh, Lara Dutta, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Ahan Shetty, Satish Kaushik and Sanya Malhotra were honoured with the prestigious award

Veteran star Asha Parekh won the award for Outstanding Contribution To Film Industry.
