Live news updates: A digital university will solve the problem of scarce college seats and make education inclusive, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. "Digital divide in country is giving way to digital inclusion and integration,” he said at a webinar on the national education policy and Budget announcements on education. 

Shivamogga town in Karnataka has increased security and banned public gatherings after a Bajarang Dal activist was stabbed to death Saturday night. The town, around 250 km west from state capital Bengaluru, was recently in news after some colleges banned students from wearing the hijab.

US President Joe Biden has accepted in principle a summit with Russia's Vladimir Putin over the crisis after the two countries' foreign ministers meet next week and if an invasion has not occurred, the White House said on Sunday.

"Currently, Russia appears to be continuing preparations for a full-scale assault on very soon," press secretary Jen Psaki said in a release.

India reports 16,051 new cases of Covid-19 and 206 deaths from the disease in the last 24 hours, said the health ministry on Monday. Total Covid-19 cases increased to 42.84 million and pandemic deaths stand at 512,109.
