Shares of Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 2.76 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 1.53 per cent), Laurus(up 0.5 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.47 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 0.04 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Gland Pharma(down 4.9 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 2.62 per cent), Abbott India(down 2.29 per cent), Cipla(down 2.06 per cent) and Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 2.03 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.87 per cent down at 13208.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 28.3 points at 17276.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 59.04 points at 57832.97.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Adani Power, YES Bank, JP Power and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of TCPL Packaging, Jagsonpal Pharm, Sree Rayalaseema, Times Guaranty and Keynote Financial hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Asian Oilfield, Dilip Buildcon, Motherson Sumi, SS Infrastructure and CarTrade Tech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
