Iconic musician Bappi Lahiri was cremated on Thursday morning in the presence of his family and close friends.
The singer breathed his last on Tuesday night due to obstructive sleep apnea. The 69-year-old was hospitalised for nearly a month due to multiple health issues.
The singer was cremated at the Vile Parle Crematorium at around 12:30 pm. Several Bollywood celebrities and personalities from the music industry came to pay their respects.
Vidya Balan, Shakti Kapoor, Alka Yagnik, and Ila Arun were among the celebrities who reached the crematorium to pay their respects.

The iconic musician breathed his last on Tuesday night. He was suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Bappi Da was hospitalised for nearly a month at the CritiCare Hospital in Juhu. He was briefly discharged, however, he had to be rushed to the hospital on Tuesday night after his health deteriorated. According to Dr Deepak Namjoshi, Bappi Da died around 11:45 pm on Tuesday.
"It’s a deeply sad moment for us. Our beloved Bappi Da has left for heavenly abode last midnight. The cremation will take place on the arrival of Bappa From LA tomorrow mid-morning. We are seeking love and blessings for his soul. We will keep you updated," read a statement issued by the singer’s family. It was signed by Mrs Chitrani Lahiri, Mr Gobind Bansal, Bappa Lahiri and Rema Lahiri.
Gobind Bansal, who is married to Bappi Da’s daughter Rema, told the media that the last rites will be held at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu. The veteran composer’s son Bappa, is a musician and is currently based in Los Angeles, US. On Wednesday, several Bollywood celebrities visited the late musician's home to pay their respects.

Bappi Da is credited as the pioneer of disco music in Indian cinema. His chartbusters include, ‘Jimmy Jimmy’, ‘Intehan Ho Gayi’, ‘Pag ghunghroo’, ‘Aaj Rapat Jaya to’, ‘Jawani Janeman’, etc. His songs were well-received by moviegoers across the length and breadth of the country.
The musician has also composed songs for Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, and Gujarati songs. As a composer, his last work was in ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ in September 2021 and his last Bollywood song was ‘Bhankas’ from ‘Baaghi 3’ released in 2020.
