A three-judge seat of the Karnataka high court on Thursday continued hearing petitions testing the hijab boycott, finishing the meeting by deferring the conference to Friday. The seat, headed by boss equity Ritu Raj Awasthi, will continue hearing at 2:30pm on February 18.
During the present hearing, the seat excused one of the petitions, recorded by a social extremist, seeing that the request isn't 'maintainable.'
The bench told advocate Rahmathulla Kotwal, who was representing the activist that he was wasting court's precious time.
The court likewise coordinated senior lawyer AM Dar, who is addressing five girls, the primary petitioners, to pull out his present supplication and record a new one, assuming that he needs.
Dar said that the state government's order will affect his clients as they wear hijab. The order is unconstitutional.
In the mean time, protests against hijab ban on instructive grounds forged ahead with Thursday also, with a few graduates seen declining guidelines from school staff to eliminate their headscarves, and selecting to leave the campus.
A day prior, pre-university (PU) and degree schools in Karnataka resumed after the state government, on February 8, requested conclusion of all educational organisations as protests for and against hijab spiraled out of control. Schools for classes up to tenth standard continued on Monday.
The Karnataka high court has requested a prohibition on strict clothing types in schools and universities till it gives its last judgment for this situation.
