Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 11:26AM

Orient Green Power Company(up 4.74%), Suzlon Energy(up 4.64%), K.P.I. Global Infrastructure(up 4.59%), Adani Transmissions(up 3.79%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 3.79%), Adani Power(up 3.48%), Karma Energy(up 3.46%), ADANIGREEN(up 2.89%), Reliance Power(up 2.75%) and DPSC(up 2.36%) were among the top gainers.

Indowind Energy(down 3.66%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 2.78%), Jyoti Structures(down 2.03%), KEC International(down 1.12%), Hitachi Energy India(down 0.98%), JSW Energy(down 0.85%), Inox wind(down 0.83%), Torrent Power(down 0.62%), NTPC(down 0.33%) and CESC(down 0.06%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 20.6 points down at 17331.85, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 115.4 points at 58026.65 at around 11:26AM.

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 3.94%), Divis Laboratories(up 2.14%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 2.1%), Grasim Industries(up 1.92%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.59%), HDFC(up 1.48%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 1.39%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.11%), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.09%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.07%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India(down 2.78%), State Bank of India(down 1.3%), Eicher Motors(down 1.24%), Larsen & Toubro(down 1.22%), ICICI Bank(down 0.93%), UltraTech Cement(down 0.91%), Wipro(down 0.77%), SBI Life(down 0.74%), Britannia Industries(down 0.72%) and Asian Paints(down 0.66%) were trading in the red.
