"When India was Partitioned, the Congress leaders did not have even the understanding that the holy place of Guru Nanak Dev is just 6 km from the border. They could have kept this holy place in India, but they did not. By not doing so, they committed a sin and trampled upon our feelings," Modi alleged.

Kartarpur Sahib, the holy place of Sikhs, became part of Pakistan after Partition due to Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has alleged. He appealed to voters in Punjab to 'uproot politics that promotes dynasty, appeasement and corruption', at an election rally in Pathankot on Wednesday.

"When India was Partitioned, the Congress leaders did not have even the understanding that the holy place of Guru Nanak Dev is just 6 km from the border. They could have kept this holy place in India, but they did not. By not doing so, they committed a sin and trampled upon our feelings," Modi alleged. When Pakistani terrorists attacked Pathankot, the whole country was united but Congress raised questions 'about the bravery of our soldiers' and 'threw muck on martyrs', Modi said. Even on anniversary of Pulwama attack they asked for proof, he said.

Referring to AAP and Congress Modi said: "They are partners in crime. There is a lot of similarity between the two parties. Both of them jointly oppose the Ram temple at Ayodhya. On the bravery of our soldiers, their leaders say what is said in Pakistan."

Reiterating his call for building a 'new Punjab', Modi claimed BJP-NDA would form a strong government. "Wherever development has taken place, dynasty rule has been washed away. Wherever peace and security were established, appeasement and corruption were sent packing. Punjab has to give this same send off to dynasty, appeasement and corruption in this election," he said.

Later, Modi addressed a rally in UP's Sitapur, where he claimed the BJP government stood for "control over 'dangaraj, mafiaraj, goondaraj' and freedom to celebrate all festivals. It means safety of women from eve teasers. It means continuous work for welfare of the poor, it means work on central schemes with double speed," he said.
