Shares of Laurus(up 4.09 per cent), Biocon(up 2.63 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 2.54 per cent), Granules India(up 2.43 per cent) and Abbott India(up 2.03 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Cipla(down 3.46 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 2.74 per cent) and Natco Pharma(down 2.4 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.79 per cent up at 13356.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 509.65 points at 17352.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 1736.21 points at 58142.05.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 48 ended in the green, while 2 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Zomato Ltd., Reliance Power and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Accuracy Shipping, Rajnandini Metal, Excel Ind, Orient Refractories and Vishnu Chem hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Repco Home Fin, Manappuram Finance, Rossari Biotech, Timescan Logistics(India)Ltd. and Fino Payments Bank Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
