India Asks Citizens To Return Amid Tense Situation In Ukraine

"In view of the uncertainties of the current situation in Ukraine, Indian nationals in Ukraine, particularly students whose stay is not essential, may consider leaving temporarily. Indian nationals are also advised to avoid all non-essential travel to and within Ukraine," the Embassy release said.

The Indian Embassy in Kyiev on Tuesday sent out a notification asking Indian citizens, especially students to leave Ukraine temporarily amid tense situation and uncertainties evolving due to the hostility between Russia and Ukraine.

"In view of the uncertainties of the current situation in Ukraine, Indian nationals in Ukraine, particularly students whose stay is not essential, may consider leaving temporarily. Indian nationals are also advised to avoid all non-essential travel to and within Ukraine," the Embassy release said.

"Indian nationals are requested to keep the Embassy informed about the status of their presence in Ukraine to enable the Embassy to reach them where required. The Embassy continues to function normally to provide all services to Indian nationals in Ukraine." 

In recent days, some other countries which have called their nationals to leave Ukraine include the United States, Britain, Belgium, UAE, Japan, Bulgaria, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Estonia and Norway.
