Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.45% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded negative around 10:34AM(IST)on Tuesday in an upbeat market.

Laurus(up 0.95 per cent), Biocon(up 0.9 per cent), Abbott India(up 0.81 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.7 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 0.7 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Gland Pharma(down 4.36 per cent), Cipla(down 3.44 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 2.91 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 1.35 per cent) and Lupin(down 1.26 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was down 0.45 per cent at 13192.25 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 50.4 points at 16893.2, while the BSE Sensex was up 195.33 points at 56601.17.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, JP Power and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Excel Ind, Rajnandini Metal, Consolidated Fin, Vishnu Chem and Focus Lighting hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Manappuram Finance, Repco Home Fin, Rossari Biotech, Gayatri Project and Mallcom(India)hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
