The man was stopped by the security personnel and said that someone had implanted magnetic chip on his body. However, after conducting an MRI test, nothing was found. Officials from intelligence agencies along with Delhi police are questioning him.
On the occasion of the 75th Raising Day of Delhi Police, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday thanked the forces for its investigation of the northeast Delhi riots and said they should lay out a road map for the next five years and for 25 years.
The High Court Tuesday rejected the plea of Ansal brothers for suspension of their 7-year jail term. A Delhi court in November last year had sentenced real estate barons Sushil and Gopal Ansal to simple imprisonment for tampering with evidence in the 1997 Uphaar fire tragedy case.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday appreciated the Delhi Police for its investigation of the northeast Delhi riots and said the force should lay out a road map for the next five years and also for 25 years. He was addressing the 75th Raising Day parade of the force.
"The Delhi Police has worked hard during the northeast Delhi riots and the coronavirus pandemic. For the way the Delhi Police investigated the riot cases and presented them in court, I congratulate them," Shah said.
The minister said the Delhi Police faces several difficulties and being the police force of the national capital, it has several duties that include providing security to dignitaries, ensuring that various programmes happen without glitches and other law and order related matters.
"Whenever any event happens at an international level, its repercussions are also felt in Delhi. The police also has the job of monitoring the situation here," he said. ---PTI
Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed the applications of real estate barons Sushil and Gopal Ansal for suspension of sentence in the Uphaar cinema evidence tampering case. Ansal brothers had sought suspension of their seven-year jail term. Justice Subramonium Prasad on Wednesday said that their applications have been rejected.
At the 75th Raising Day Parade, the Delhi Police released their own postal stamp. The commemoration stamp was released by Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has extended the last date for the amnesty scheme for paying property tax from February 15 to March 31. Under the amnesty scheme, 100 per cent rebate on interest and penalty will be given on payment of outstanding property tax, said EDMC mayor Shyam Sunder Aggarwal. Read more

A district court in Gurgaon Monday dismissed the anticipatory bail of IPS officer Dheeraj Setia, against whom the Prevention of Corruption Act has been invoked, in a multi-crore heist case in Gurgaon.

Following student protests, in an office order Monday, Registrar Nazim Husain Jafri said the university will shift to offline classes only for final year/semester students. While classes for postgraduate students will shift to offline mode on March 2, for undergraduate students the shift will be made on March 15. A source apportionment study is underway for air pollutants in Delhi, spearheaded by a team from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
The project, called ‘real-time source apportionment study and pollution forecasting’, was approved by the Delhi Cabinet last year, and the Delhi government had signed a memorandum of understanding with IIT-Kanpur for the study. Read more
Deep Sidhu, Punjabi actor-activist, who shot into limelight following the Red Fort violence during the farmers’ protest on Republic Day last year, reportedly died in a road accident on Tuesday. The accident took place on the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal Expressway and Sidhu was declared brought dead at Kharkhoda hospital.

The Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi Police to respond to a petition seeking transfer of trial related to the murder of a 27-year-old wrestler at Chhatrasal Stadium in May 2021, in which Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar is the main accused, from Rohini court to any other court in the national capital.
Justice Mukta Gupta in an order asked the DCP concerned to respond to the petitioners’ apprehension that it would be unsafe for them to travel to Rohini due to “topography of the place of incident, residences of hundreds and thousands of wrestlers” around Chhatrasal stadium where Kumar was working as the officer on special duty. Four persons died after being run over by a train on the tracks near Basai Dhankot railway station on Tuesday evening, said police. Police said that as per a preliminary probe, it has emerged that the four were taking a selfie on the tracks when they were run over by the train.
The deceased are yet to be identified, said police. The government railway police (GRP) investigating the incident said all four died on the spot. Read More
Amid a decline in daily Covid cases in Delhi, the number of patients under home isolation here has gradually fallen to 2,361, a steep drop of 80 per cent in the last 14 days, according to official data.
The number home isolation cases in February 1 was 12,312.
The number of containment zones, which were also slowly falling in this period, also registered a dip in its count to 16,154 on February 14 from 37,116 on February 1, according to official figures shared by the health department. (PTI)
The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear on March 3 the AAP government's plea on the contentious issue of who should control administrative services in Delhi, the dispute arose out of a 2019 split verdict.
On February 14, 2019, a two judge-bench of Justices A K Sikri and Ashok Bhushan, both retired since recommended to the chief justice of India that a three-judge bench be set up to finally decide the issue of control of services in the national capital in view of its split verdict.
Justice Bhushan had ruled the Delhi government has no power at all over administrative services. (PTI)
A woman allegedly stabbed a taxi driver near Rajiv Chowk in Gurgaon on Tuesday morning. Police said the taxi driver suffered injuries on his shoulder and was rushed to a hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
The accused woman seemed distressed and was taken into custody, the police said, adding that they are yet to ascertain the reason behind the attack.
According to the police, the incident took place around 11.15 am near the district court when the taxi driver, identified as Raghu Raj, was waiting for a passenger in his vehicle. Read More
