Ilker Ayci Appointed CEO & MD Of Air India: Tata Sons Statement

Amid the acquisition of the airline, Tata Sons on Monday said that it has appointed Ilker Ayci as the Managing Director (MD) and CEO of Air India, the company said in a statement. 

Earlier, Ayci was part of Turkish Airlines and served as Chairman. 

Meanwhile, Tatas took control of Air India on 27 January along with its subsidiary Air India Express as well as a 50 per cent stake in joint venture AISATS.

Through a competitive bidding process, Prime Minister Narendra Modi central government sold Air India to Talace, part of Tata Group, for Rs 18,000 crore. As part of the deal, Talace paid Rs 2,700 crore in cash and took over Rs 15,300 crore debt of the airline.
