West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee creates panel to decide on party matters

Following an emergency meeting of the All India Trinamool Congress at her residence on Saturday, West Bengal chief minister and party supremo Mamata Banerjee announced a 20-member national working committee to ease the growing tensions between senior members and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, who is also the party general secretary.

This came after the party faced protests over the release of two lists of candidates for municipal polls, and criticism over Abhishek's "one post, one person" remark, which was seen as a direct attack on senior leaders, many of whom are shouldering multiple responsibilities despite being ministers in her cabinet.
