The Tata IPL mega auction started today a total of 590 players -- 370 Indians and 220 overseas -- are set to go under the hammer at the IPL 2022 mega auction, which is set to take place in Bengaluru at ITC Gardenia.
Ishan Kishan and Deepak Chahar clinched the most eye-popping deals as India's battle-hardened T20 exponents laughed their way to the bank on the opening day of IPL mega-auction where the franchises saved their highest bids for home-grown talent.
Kishan's ₹15.25 crore winning bid from Mumbai Indians pipped the ₹14 crore figure that CSK offered to retain Deepak Chahar on Saturday.
India pacer Avesh Khan was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹10 crore in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction on Saturday.
Avesh had his base price as ₹20 lakh, and in the end, he was sold at ₹10 crore to Lucknow and as a result, he has become the most expensive uncapped player in the history of the tournament. India pacer Basil Thampi was sold to Mumbai Indians for ₹30 lakh. On the other hand, Kartik Tyagi was acquired by SunRisers Hyderabad for ₹4 crore.

Auction proceedings resumes after being halted auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed when the bidding for Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was going on.
Mr. Hugh Edmeades, the IPL Auctioneer, had an unfortunate fall due to Postural Hypotension during the IPL Auction this afternoon.

Veteran sports presenter Charu Sharma was handed the auction duties for the remainder of the event as Edmeades received medical care following the fall that was blamed on low blood pressure.
Auction is temporarily halted as IPL auctioneer Hugh Edmeades has collapsed mid-way through the mega auction.
