The Tata IPL mega auction started today a total of 590 players -- 370 Indians and 220 overseas -- are set to go under the hammer at the IPL 2022 mega auction, which is set to take place in Bengaluru at ITC Gardenia.
Eight old franchises Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore retained a few players while two new teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow have picked some players ahead of the auction.

Auction proceedings resumes after being halted auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed when the bidding for Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was going on.
Mr. Hugh Edmeades, the IPL Auctioneer, had an unfortunate fall due to Postural Hypotension during the IPL Auction this afternoon.

Veteran sports presenter Charu Sharma was handed the auction duties for the remainder of the event as Edmeades received medical care following the fall that was blamed on low blood pressure.
Auction is temporarily halted as IPL auctioneer Hugh Edmeades has collapsed mid-way through the mega auction.
