NEW DELHI: Shares of Weizmann Ltd, Hind Const Co, NDTV, Orient Refractories and Sapphire Foods, hit their fresh 52-week highs during Friday's trade on NSE.

Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 231.1 points down at 17374.75 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.

However, stocks such as Solara Active Pharma, Neuland Labs, GE Power India, Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Ltd. and Orchid Pharma, touched their fresh 52-week lows.

Overall, 6 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 44 closed in the red.

In the Nifty 50 index, Indian Oil Corp., IndusInd Bank, NTPC, Tata Steel and ITC were among top gainers during the day, while Grasim Inds., Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Tech and UPL ended in the red.

The BSE Sensex closed 773.11 points down at 58152.92.

Traders piled up positions in Telecommunications, Airlines, Electric/Electronics, Tobacco and InvIT sectors, while selling was witnessed in Industrial Consumables, Services, Industrial Equipment, Cables and Tyres sectors during the day.
