
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Thursday.
Shares of Federal Bank(up 2.25 per cent), HDFC Bank(up 1.84 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.75 per cent), State Bank of India(up 0.99 per cent) and AU Small Finance Bank(up 0.81 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Punjab National Bank(down 1.92 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.04 per cent up at 39010.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 142.05 points at 17605.85, while the BSE Sensex stood up 460.06 points at 58926.03.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 ended in the green, while 10 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Adani Power, SAIL, Suzlon Energy and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Adani Wilmar Ltd., Mahindra Lifespace, Consolidated Fin, Balaji Telef and Poddar Housing hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Solara Active Pharma, GE Power India, SS Infrastructure, Dynamic Services & Security Ltd. and Crown Lifters hit their fresh 52-week lows.
