The NSE Nifty index closed 142.05 points up at 17605.85, while BSE Sensex ended up 460.06 points at 58926.03.
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 1.61 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 1.58 per cent), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.(down 0.91 per cent), Shree Cements Ltd.(down 0.86 per cent) and UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 0.39 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
