Prince of Wales Prince Charles has contracted Covid on Thursday, and is self-isolating.
The official handle of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall revealed that the royal, next in line to become the King, tested positive for the novel virus.
The note said that the 73-year-old was 'deeply disappointed' for not being able to attend the events planned in Winchester, England. He also assured that he will reschedule his visit as soon as possible.
No other details about his symptoms or where he is lodged were available.
On Wednesday evening, the royal and his wife, Camila, met a few prominent people like UK's Chancellor Rishi Sunak with his wife Akshata Murthy, Home Secretary Priti Patel and Health Secretary Sajid Javid at the British Museum. Some of the other guests at the event were Serum Institute Of India (SII) founder Adar Poonawala and director Gurinder Chadha.
SII is the largest vaccine manufacturer of Covishield (known as AstraZeneca, internationally) which was developed by Oxford University.
The reception was planned to celebrate the work of the British Asian Trust, a charity founded by Charles in 2007 to support disadvantaged communities in South Asia.
He took the stage to applaud the Trust's "remarkable achievements of relief and recovery work, which have supported millions of vulnerable and marginalised people, during this difficult COVID-19 pandemic."
The heir to the throne previously contracted the coronavirus in March 2020. Officials said he had mild COVID-19 symptoms then. Charles and his wife, Camilla, isolated at Queen Elizabeth II's Balmoral estate in Scotland at the time.
Spain's King Felipe VI, 54, and Denmark's Queen Margrethe II, 81, also tested positive for the coronavirus this week.
