Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 10:34AM

K.P.I. Global Infrastructure(up 2.53%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 1.45%), SJVN(up 1.30%), Adani Transmissions(up 1.05%), PTC India(up 0.75%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 0.55%), Voltamp Transformers(up 0.49%), CESC(up 0.42%), NHPC(up 0.34%) and NTPC(up 0.26%) were among the top gainers.

Karma Energy(down 4.86%), Indowind Energy(down 4.86%), Energy Development Company(down 4.84%), Orient Green Power Company(down 4.71%), RTNPOWER(down 4.62%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 2.92%), Suzlon Energy(down 2.37%), Jyoti Structures(down 2.24%), Hitachi Energy India(down 1.66%) and NLC India(down 1.24%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 121.65 points up at 17388.4, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 392.0 points at 58200.58 at around 10:34AM.

Coal India(up 4.38%), Hindalco Industries(up 2.13%), Bajaj Auto(up 2.07%), Maruti Suzuki(up 2.0%), HCL Technologies(up 1.92%), Cipla(up 1.78%), IndusInd Bank(up 1.73%), HDFC Bank(up 1.69%), Titan Company Ltd(up 1.55%) and UltraTech Cement(up 1.53%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Indian Oil Corporation(down 0.82%), SBI Life(down 0.72%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.55%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 0.54%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.52%), State Bank of India(down 0.45%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 0.34%), Tata Steel(down 0.18%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 0.03%) and TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.01%) were trading in the red.
