Maruti Suzuki(up 2.03 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 2.02 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 1.75 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(up 1.6 per cent) and Bharat Forge(up 1.34 per cent) were among the top gainers.
TIINDIA(down 1.29 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 1.19 per cent at 11566.0 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 145.95 points at 17412.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 486.12 points at 58294.7.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 were trading in the green, while 7 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, Adani Wilmar Ltd., YES Bank, Suzlon Energy and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Adani Wilmar Ltd., Ajooni Biotech Ltd., Keynote Financial, Poddar Housing and Deep Industries Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Tasty Bite Eatable, Precision Metaliks Ltd., Seya Industries, Mahanagar Gas and Timescan Logistics(India)Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
