Tarbull Musicmate 550 Review: Neckband With Pre-Loaded Songs

A few years back, people used to buy iPods and small portable audio players to enjoy music on the go. Now, the situation has changed and people use Bluetooth technology to stream their music through mobile phones. But it still requires mobile, internet connection and music subscription service. Tarbull, a consumer electronics brand, has come up with a neckband that comes preloaded with 1000 Hindi songs. We used the neckband for quite some time and here is our review.

Musicmate 550 follows a typical neckband design with rectangular pods at both ends. One of the sides accommodates battery and other storage. The control buttons sit on the right side and are a bit confusing if you have ignored the manual. So we recommend reading the manual before you start using it. It has only four buttons that can manage tracks, control the volume, access voice assistant, calls, and switch between folders and different modes. It supports a Type-C port, and it takes around an hour to fill its juice.

Talking about its sound quality, it emits decent sound and doesn’t distort at higher volumes. The loudness level is quite high, you can hear the song without even wearing it. Apart from balance mode, it has a bass boosted mode which significantly increases the bass. Most of the time, balanced mode was chosen by us because of the sound quality.

Moreover, you might get different sound output when connected via Bluetooth as the pre-loaded songs are of high quality. It supports Bluetooth 5.0 and connection is very quick, especially when connecting to the last paired device.

Musicmate 550 playlist consists of songs from the late 1990s and 2000s, the song mix is provided by Sony Music India. If you like these kinds of songs, they will not disappoint you. All pre-loaded songs are in Hindi and if you are into English songs, the pre-loaded list will not work for you.

Tarbull claims that Musicmate 550 can provide up to 35 hours of playback at a 50% volume level, and 10 minutes of charge can last for up to 10 hours long in Bluetooth mode. During our testing, we achieved around 80 percent of the claim.

Verdict

Tarbull Musicmate 550 comes with pre-loaded high-quality 1001 tracks, Separate mode for normal and extreme bass lovers, Long battery life, and fast charging support. These all make Musicmate 550 a strong contender in the neckband segment. If you do not like 1990’s and 2000’s songs, you might skip it and go for other neckbands.
