The Indian white-ball captain Rohit Sharma is leading the Indian team for the first time in the capacity of full-time captain in an ODI as the Men in Blue take on West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is also the 1000th ODI for India as a team.
India have started thier chase of 177 in a brilliant manner as the opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have added unbeaten 72 for the first wicket with Rohit reaching his 44th ODI fifty. He has so far hit brilliant boundaries, eight fours and a huge six.
Earlier, India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Indian bowlers vindicated his decision as they picked wickets in bunches with Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal striking twice in one over each. Apart from Holder's 57, Allen made 29 while Nicholas Pooran and Darren Barvo each made 18 for West Indies.
For India, Chahal picked four wickets while Sundar picked three. Fast bowlers Prasidh Krishna and Mohd. Siraj also picked two and one wickets each respectively.
