Meanwhile, full attendance in office will resume for all government employees from Monday onwards, said Union minister Jitendra Singh. The decision was taken taking note of the decline of covid cases. Offices would require to strictly follow Covid protocols and work from home will end for all government employees, Singh added.
The Delhi government-run Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) too will resume offline classes from February 7. The order issued by the JNU stated that the university shall be made fully functional at 100 per cent strength, and all staff members and officers are to attend office on all working days from Monday onwards. However, Delhi University will continue classes in the online mode.

he Drugs Controller General of India has granted emergency use permission to single-dose Sputnik Light Covid vaccine in the country, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Sunday.
This comes following recommendations of an expert panel of India's central drug authority to grant restricted emergency use authorisation to Sputnik Light subject to various regulatory provisions.
Sputnik-Light is the same as component-1 of Sputnik V.
"DCGI has granted emergency use permission to single-dose Sputnik Light COVID-19 vaccine in India. This is the ninth COVID-19 vaccine in the country. This will further strengthen the nation's collective fight against the pandemic," Mandaviya tweeted. (PTI)
Tamil Nadu continued to witness a decline in daily Covid-19 cases as 6,120 new infections were reported in the last 24 hours, pushing the aggregate to 34,10,882, the health department said on Sunday.
According to a medical bulletin, 26 more people succumbed to the contagion, mounting the toll to 37,759.
Recoveries outnumbered new cases as 23,144 people got discharged in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 32,51,295 leaving 1,21,828 active infections. (PTI)
Kerala saw a drop in daily coronavirus cases with 26,729 fresh infections being reported on Sunday, taking the total number of those affected by the disease to 62.71 lakh.
The Covid toll mounted to 58,255 with 22 additional deaths.
The state had recorded 33,538 cases yesterday and 38,684 on Friday. (PTI)
Maharashtra on Sunday reported 9,666 new coronavirus positive cases, taking the state's infection tally to 78,03,700, while the death of 66 persons took the toll to 1,43,074, the health department said.
A total of 25,175 patients were discharged during the day, which raised the recovery count to 75,38,611, it said.
There are 1,18,076 active cases in the state now. (PTI)
Eleven people succumbed to Covid-19 in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, pushing the death toll to 4,026 while the state recorded 376 fresh cases that took its tally to 2,76,522, a health official said.
Eight men and three women between the age group of 42 to 94 years were among the fatalities, he said. (PTI)
Rajasthan on Sunday reported 4,509 new Covid cases and seven more deaths, officials said.
According to the health department, the new cases include 803 from Jaipur, 365 from Jodhpur, 278 from Udaipur, 245 from Alwar, 217 from Ganganagar, 214 from Ajmer. A total of 9,752 people have recovered from the infection while 45,893 patients are under treatment. (PTI)
Tripura reported zero daily Covid-19 fatality on Sunday after a month, while 13 fresh cases pushed the northeastern state's tally to 1,00,650, a senior health official said.
The state has registered 913 Covid-19 deaths so far.
"Today, there has been no Covid-19 death after a month, which shows that the third wave of the pandemic continues to weaken in Tripura," State Surveillance Officer Dr Deep Debbarma said. (PTI)
Delhi on Sunday recorded 1,410 Covid-19 cases, and 14 deaths. Positivity rate in the national capital is at 2.45% now.
Jharkhand's Covid-19 tally rose to 4,31,252 on Sunday as 449 more people tested positive for the infection, while two fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 5,310, a health bulletin said. East Singhbhum district, under which industrial city Jamshedpur falls, registered the highest number of new cases at 187, followed by 90 in state capital Ranchi. The fresh fatalities were recorded in Seraikela-Kharsawan and Hazaribag districts. The state now has 2,787 active cases, while 4,23,155 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 715 in the last 24 hours. --PTI
A South Korean company has rolled out an anti-virus mask that only covers the nose and can be worn while eating and drinking. The “kosk”, a combination of ko (the Korean word for nose) and mask, has been released by the company called Atman and sells for 9,800 won ($8.13; Rs 610) for a box of 10 on online retailer Coupang. Each kosk consists of two pieces, one of which can be removed to leave the mouth uncovered, The Guardian reported.

A sharp drop in Covid-19 cases on Feb. 5 among Beijing Olympics-related personnel was due to fewer arrivals at the airport and organisers said on Sunday that they did not expect any more large fluctuations in infection numbers.
China detected 10 new Covid-19 cases among Olympic Games-related personnel on February 5, the organising committee of the Games said. That was down from February 4's 45 cases - the second highest daily tally since arrivals commenced last month.
Among the latest cases, four were new airport arrivals, including two athletes or team officials. The remaining six were already in the 'closed loop', a bubble keeping Games personnel away from the local population during the February 4-20 Olympics. (Reuters)
The updated Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) guidelines might have done away with the 50 per cent cap for classroom learning but reopening directives continue to ask them to be cautious in the wake of Covid-19.
Education institutions in the city are allowed to reopen for students of classes 9 and above from Monday and for nursery to class 8 from February 14, emphasizing that the ‘hybrid mode’ of teaching-learning is to continue in schools. Hybrid mode essentially means that students will have the option not to attend offline classes and schools will have to arrange online classes for them. Read more

India has administered over 169.46 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine so far, with more than 45 lakh shots being administered in the last 24 hours.
Over 1.47 crore booster doses have also been gven since the drive for the same started on January 10. Meanwhile, in the age group of 15-18 years, 4.92 crore people have received the first dose, while over 56 lakh have received the second dose.
The Election Commission on Sunday reiterated that the ban on physical rallies and roadshows will continue to remain in effect in poll bound states but granted more relaxation for physical public meetings in indoor halls and outdoor meetings.
"Restrictions regarding outdoor meeting/indoor meetings/rallies will be further relaxed subject to condition that the number of persons attending the indoor/outdoor meetings/rallies will be limited to maximum of 50 percent of the capacity of Indoor halls and 30 percent of the open ground capacity or as fixed by DEO as per requirement of the social distancing norms and whichever is less," the EC said in a statement.
"Ban on road shows, Pad-Yatras, cycle/bike/vehicle rallies and processions will remain as it before. Maximum number of persons permissible for door to door campaigning fixed at 20 will also remain as before. Ban on campaign between 8 PM and 8 AM will also continue as before," the election body added.
India recorded a single day rise of 1,07,474 Covid-19 infections, pushing India's tally of cases to 4,21,88,138. Active Covid-19 cases have declined to 12,25,011.
Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, 865 fatalities were reported, taking the death toll to 5,01,979.
While the daily positivity rate stood at 7.42 per cent, India completed the administration of 1,69,46,26,697 Covid-19 vaccine doses.

The Haryana government further eased some COVID-19 restrictions in the state on Saturday, allowing all offices including the private ones to function at full capacity while entertainment parks and B2B exhibitions are now allowed to open at 50 per cent capacity.
On January 28, the Haryana government had allowed the opening of cinema halls, theatres and multiplexes with 50 per cent seating capacity. (PTI)
The Supreme Court Bar Association requested Chief Justice of India N V Ramana that physical hearings in the apex court be resumed to the pre-pandemic level as the Covid-19 situation is in control and stressed that 'open court hearing' is both the "convention and a constitutional requirement".
In a letter addressed to the CJI, SCBA president Vikas Singh said the positivity rate in the national capital has come down to below four percent and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided to reopen schools, colleges and gyms with effect from February 7.
