
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of HDFC Bank(up 0.57 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, AU Small Finance Bank(down 2.68 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 2.58 per cent), RBLBANK(down 2.54 per cent), Federal Bank(down 2.08 per cent) and State Bank of India(down 1.81 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.57 per cent down at 38789.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 43.9 points at 17516.3, while the BSE Sensex stood down 143.2 points at 58644.82.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, PNB and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Ambika Cotton, Nahar Capital, Spectrum Electrical, Nahar Poly Film and AVT Nat Prod hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Timescan Logistics(India)Ltd., Precision Metaliks Ltd., Dynamic Services & Security Ltd., Vera Synthetic and McDowell Hold hit their fresh 52-week lows.
