Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.2% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded negative around 10:19AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Strides Pharma Science(up 1.36 per cent), Granules India(up 1.18 per cent), Abbott India(up 0.77 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 0.63 per cent) and Cadila Healthcare(up 0.53 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Lupin(down 1.31 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 1.04 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 0.97 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 0.4 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.39 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was down 0.2 per cent at 13616.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 74.75 points at 17705.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 280.22 points at 59278.11.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, PNB and TV18 Broadcast were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Garware Poly, Shivalik Bimetal, MMP Industries, Chemfab Alkalis and Ganga Forging hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Precision Metaliks Ltd., Dynamic Services & Security Ltd., DC Infotech and Mallcom(India)hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
