    Over 11.48 cr unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses still available with States, UTs: Centre

    The Central Government on Wednesday said that over 11.48 crore balance and unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States and Union Territories (UTs). According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, "More than 164.89 crore (1,64,89,60,315) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category." "More than 11.48 crore (11,48,99,956) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered," it added.

    Rajnath Singh to campaign in Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit constituencies today

    Union Defence Minister and star campaigner of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajnath Singh in Uttar Pradesh, will campaign door-to-door in Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit on Wednesday, ahead of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Singh tweeted that he will be visiting constituencies in Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit and will interact with prominent voters.     Communist Party of India (Marxist) Rajya Sabha MP Elamaram Kareem on Wednesday gave a notice under rule 267 to suspend the business and discuss the Pegasus issue. Today, CPI MP from Kerala Binoy Viswam also gave a suspension of business notice under rule 267 demanding a discussion on Pegasus spyware. Opposition leaders have been demanding an answer from Union Minister of Information and Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, and have alleged that he has "deliberately misled the House".

    Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday expressed disappointment over the Union Budget 2022 and said that the BJP-led Centre needs to be "removed and thrown in the Bay of Bengal". Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi "short-sighted", Rao said, "BJP (at Centre) needs to be removed and thrown in the Bengal sea (Bay of Bengal). We will do whatever is needful for the country; will not sit silent. This is democracy. Our PM is very short-sighted." Hinting at entering the national politics, he said, "There is need for qualitative (leadership) change in the country. I will be going to Mumbai to meet Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to hold talks over it."
