Eicher Motors(up 2.87 per cent), TIINDIA(up 2.78 per cent), TVS Motor Company(up 2.2 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 1.69 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries(up 1.46 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Balkrishna Industries(down 2.01 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was up 0.97 per cent at 11728.45 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 167.3 points at 17744.15, while the BSE Sensex was up 533.06 points at 59395.63.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 were trading in the green, while 6 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, Suzlon Energy, SAIL and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Mallcom(India), Nahar Poly Film, Jainam Ferro Alloys(I)Ltd., Everest Ind and Capri Global hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Precision Metaliks Ltd., Dynamic Services & Security Ltd., Shri Ram Switchgears and Hind Nat Glass hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
