With Covid-19 cases steadily falling in Maharashtra, capital Mumbai decided to relax some of the restrictions imposed amid the pandemic wave on Tuesday (February 1). The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai announced new guidelines for the city including the lifting of the night curfew, reopening across establishments as per the revised norms. Earlier, Mumbai and Maharashtra schools had reopened from January 24.

Cases in Mumbai dipped below the 1000-mark yesterday (January 31) for the first time since December 27, 2021. The city reported 2,61,480 cases of Covid-19 in January and lost 247 deaths lives. In December, the total infections stood at 22,229 infections with 38 deaths, as per BMC data. Mumbai’s total Covid-19 case load with the current wave receding stood at 10,46,590, with 16,623 as the end of January 2022.
