Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said Budget 2022 is a "blueprint to steer economy from India@75 to India@100".

Here are top points from the Budget 2022

  1. The Finance Minister said the country is expected to grow at 9.2 per cent in the current financial year, on the back of a sharp rebound in the economy.

  2. She also said virtuous cycle of investment is expected to revive on account of capex (capital expenditure) and crowd in private investment.

  3. The budget will continue to provide impetus for growth and hoped to lay the blueprint of India at 100.

  4. The minister announced that e-passports using embedded chips and futuristic technology will be rolled out.

  5. The government will take steps to make the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) sector more resilient.

  6. The government's focus since 2014 has been on the poor and marginalised and it strives to provide necessary ecosystem to the middle class.

  7. 400 new trains will be launched under the "Vande Bharat" mission in the next three years.

  8. 100 Gati Shakti terminals per month will be set up in the next three years.

  9. Nirmala Sitharaman said the speed of vaccination has helped in economic recovery. She also said the country is in the midst of an Omicron wave.

  10. A day before the budget, the government's annual economic survey said India will lead the world in economic growth at 8-8.5 per cent and concluded that it has the headroom to do spend more.
