
TWO PERSONS waiting at Everard Nagar bus stop on the Eastern Express Highway in Mumbai were run over by a car driven by a 17-year-old student on Monday morning. While both persons died later, police registered an FIR and detained the minor.
According to the police, the accident took place around 8.15am. Babasaheb Kale (55) and another unidentified person were waiting at the bus stop when the driver of a Hyundai Accent coming from the BKC connector side and heading towards Thane lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the duo, before hitting the divider.
Both victims were rushed to hospital but succumbed to injuries. A police officer said the driver then fled the spot and parked his vehicle some distance away. He also covered his vehicle with the cover of another car that was parked there.
Later, the police said the accused is a 17-year-old student and he was in Class XII.
Kale worked as a security guard in Chunabhatti while the other person has not yet been identified. No identity proof was found in his pocket and no one has approached police as yet.
