
Transfer deadline day 2022: After a whirlwind transfer deadline day, the January window slammed shut on Monday with a lot of big signings taking place. Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona to Aston Villa), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal to Barcelona), Dele Alli (Tottenham to Everton), Lucas Digne (Everton to Aston Villa) and Donny van de Beek (Manchester United to Everton) are just some of the big names who made the switch this time around.
The other big signings are Christian Eriksen to Brentford FC while Manchester City signed Julian Alvarez from River Plate. Tanguy Ndombele sealed a loan move to Lyon from Tottenham and Burnley signed Wout Weghorst to replace Chris Wood.
Tottenham also completed the double signings of Dejan Kulusevski on loan and Rodrigo Bentancur on a permanent deal from Juventus with the Italian club signing Denis Zakaria from Borussia Mönchengladbach. Spurs also confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso has joined Spanish side Villareal on loan. Newcastle, meanwhile, added a fourth signing to their squad after sealing a loan move for Aston Villa’s Matt Targett.
Wolfsburg reacted to its dramatic fall in fortune with a flurry of activity as the winter transfer window closed in Germany. Midfielder Dele Alli will get the chance to rejuvenate his flagging career at Everton after joining the Merseyside club in a deadline day deal from Tottenham Hotspur on Monday. In a late-night announcement, Everton said he had signed a two-and-a-half year contract. Alli has fallen out of favour at Tottenham who he joined as a teenager in 2015 from MK Dons, struggling to hold down a place in the first team for the past season and a half.Alli's arrival completed a busy day for Everton who had earlier confirmed the appointment of Frank Lampard as manager and the loan signing of Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek from Manchester United until the end of the season.
