Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 195.5 points to 17305.65 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Kriti Ind, Atal Realtech, Vaibhav Global, Hind Nat Glass and Dynamic Services & Security Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 46 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 4 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, NTPC, ONGC, M&M, IndusInd Bank and Adani Ports SEZ were among top gainers, while Maruti Suzuki, Power Grid, HUL, SBI and ICICI Bank traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 577.72 points up at 57854.66 at 11:20AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Trading, Sugar, Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment and Fertilisers sectors, while selling was visible in Airlines, Services, IT Enabled Services, Pharmaceuticals and Gems and Jewellery sectors.
