A series covering the 200-year-old journey of the Tata family is in the works.

A movie production house has purchased the rights of a book "The Tatas: How a family built a Business and a Nation". The book is authored by senior journalist Girish Kuber.

The series will be released on an OTT platform. Confirming the development, Prabhleen Kaur Sandhu of Almighty Motion Picture told ET that the series will have at least three seasons.

"The endeavour is to put a spotlight on how the Tatas family contributed to community building. The series' focus will not be limited to the raising of a business empire by the Tatas but will underscore their invaluable contribution to building our nation", Sandhu said.

The show will not only cover the successful journey of Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Sons, but also his ancestors and the entire Parsi family, Sandhu added.

The production team has already begun research on the subject.

"The writing has already commenced. We will confine the series strictly to what has been narrated in the book," said another individual connected with the project on the condition of anonymity.

As per available information, the shooting for the series will commence after six to seven months. The auditioning for it, as to who would play Ratan Tata and other characters, will commence once the writing is completed, said the person quoted above.

He added, "We won't be able to do justice to a journey as vast and rich as this without having done complete research. A team has already been assigned the task to write the script. Shooting is likely to commence by the year end."
