The NSE Nifty index closed 167.8 points down at 17110.15, while BSE Sensex ended down 581.21 points at 57276.94.
On the other hand, HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 4.09 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 3.67 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 3.33 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 3.20 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 3.19 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
