Shweta Tiwari in trouble, MP Home Minister orders probe after her controversial remark on God

TV actress Shweta Tiwari, who gained popularity for essaying the lead role of Prerna Sharma in producer Ekta Kapoor's 2001 famous show 'Kasautii Zindagi Kay', has landed herself in a world of trouble for her controversial comments at a Bhopal press conference on Wednesday.

The 41-year-old actress was in Bhopal on Wednesday with co-star Rohit Roy for the promotion of her upcoming web series 'Showstopper'.

In the video that went viral, Tiwari was seen referring to God while making a statement about her brassiere. Netizens have been upset with the actress' comments.

Owing to the backlash, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra took cognizance of the matter. Tagging the comments inappropriate, the minister said he has directed Bhopal' Commissioner of Police to investigate her remark and submit a report within 24 hours.

Mishra was quoted saying, "I have heard it and I strongly condemn it. I have directed the police commissioner of Bhopal to probe it and give a report within 24 hours. After that, we will see what action can be taken in the matter."

The web series also features Telugu star Digangana Suryavanshi and actor Sourabh Raaj Jain of 'Mahabharata' fame in pivotal roles.


Jain, who played the role of Lord Krishna in the mythological show, will essay the role of a 'bra fitter' in the upcoming series. Reports suggest that Tiwari made the statement jokingly in reference to Jain's character in the show.

The fashion-related series is based on spreading body positivity and make women feel confident about themselves.
